Letter to Editor

Legislators must not turn their backs on infants, children and adults with disabilities.

Do not leave the Capitol without passing much needed new revenue for human services.

30,000 children and adults are about to lose their services. Thousands of direct care staff are about to be laid off. Community service providers are six months behind in state payments. Rates for community services are being cut by 2.5%. There are now over 19,600 children and adults on the waiting list. Many believe they will never get community services. We desperately need new revenue.

We elected you to lead. We need your leadership now.

Do not turn your back on infants, children and adults with disabilities. We ask that you support new revenue for human services.

The Arc of Illinois is the largest advocacy organization for people with developmental disabilities and their families in Illinois.
