Arc and Blueprint for System Redesign Released

Yesterday, February 14th, the Illinois Council on Developmental Disabilities released the "Blueprint for System Redesign in Illinois." I was proud to be a speaker at the press conference on the Blueprint, truly a visionary plan.  You will be hearing a lot about the Blueprint because it lays out a seven-year plan to redesign and overhaul the Developmental Disabilities system in Illinois.   I have attached the full Blueprint for you. Do The Right Thing Coalition Agenda FY2008

The “Do the Right Thing” Coalition supports revenue enhancements because the need for additional resources for community services and supports is without question. Whatever the agreement on revenue, the needs of persons with disabilities and mental illness are ongoing every day and must be addressed in the FY08 budget. The Coalition urges the General Assembly’s to equally support maintaining quality of services for individuals currently receiving them and expansion of services and supports for those who wait.
