Many people with intellectual and other developmental disabilities would lose their
services if the Governor does not sign House Bill 2482.

Please respond today to this Action Alert. See details below.

Tony

Dear Access Living friends and allies,

Please share.

We have received clarification that the Governor must take action on House Bill 2482
(HB 2482), the DON score bill, by the end of the day SUNDAY. If he chooses to veto
the bill, the House will only have one opportunity to vote to override the veto, and that
is on Tuesday, November 10. If the Governor vetoes the bill and the House cannot
override it, the bill is dead.

While this would not spell the end of our efforts to protect home services for people
with disabilities and seniors, it is important to do everything we can. We really, really
need the community to take action today and tomorrow to contact the Governor’s
office.

What’s at stake? Home services for 34,000 people with disabilities and seniors! To
eliminate home services for all these people is unimaginable. There are NO good
alternatives! Again, you have three ways of taking action:

We urge you today to contact Governor Rauner to sign HB 2482 in at least one of
three ways (you can do more than one):

1)      Go to this link and write the Governor a letter urging him to sign HB 2482 to
save home services for people with disabilities and seniors.
2)      Call the Governor in Chicago at 312-814-2121 or Springfield at 217-782-0244.
His staff will pick up the phone. Please tell them that you are calling to urge the
Governor to sign HB 2482 to save home services for people with disabilities and
seniors.
3)      Use this easy link to send a fast email to the Governor’s staff working on
constituent affairs, to urge that the Governor sign HB 2482.

We will keep you posted on any new developments.
