This is what fighting the institutional bias looks like!
Recently, Governor Quinn announced that Mabley Developmental Center would be one of the state facilities closing due to budget cuts. This is also in line with the state’s policy of rebalancing Medicaid long term care spending away from costly institutional settings and towards cost-saving community-based care.
Tomorrow morning, advocates who want to keep Mabley open will stage a rally there as local legisltors tour Mabley.
We must make sure that the voices of those who want to rebalance the system are heard.
