I have had quite a good week at The Arc. On Monday, I met again with Lore Baker,
Statewide Housing Coordinator for Long Term Care Reform, Office of the Governor,
to discuss supportive living options and the needs of individuals with intellectual
and developmental disabilities (IDD). We had a great session and continue to share
thoughts and ideas. You should look into the possibility of supportive living options.
Lore and her team are looking at new models for people with IDD.

Wednesday, The Arc Team met at our Frankfort offices to update our websites and
the way we communicate. It was a fantastic day! The Arc has so many talented people
and programs designed to assist individuals with disabilities, families and providers.

Proposed 1115 Waiver Update

Another important aspect of the proposed 1115 are the service definitions. The Arc
has advocated for more flexible definitions for employment and community living
options. There is a work group that is now reviewing service definitions within the
1115 waiver see details below.

Services and Supports Work Group.  This notice concerns the kickoff meeting of the
breakout group concerned with developing common service definitions to be used
across all agencies and programs.

breakthrough groups, please see the GOHIT site for more information about those

The discussion will be open, and we will start with these questions:

·         Which services are working well now? Why are they working?
·         Which services are important services, but with major flaws?  What are the
flaws?
·         Are there any services that should be eliminated?

state and federal laws upon notification of anticipated attendance. Persons with
disabilities planning to attend and needing special accommodations should contact
GOHIT at least five business days prior to the meeting so that we may best
accommodate their needs.
