About This Workshop
Many children with special needs have limited
interpersonal communication skills. Communication
programs sometimes target teaching children to
respond. Often a missing element is teaching us, the
communicative partners, how to encourage children
to make more communication attempts. This
workshop teaches us how to be more conscious of
our own role in developing communication skills in
young children. It focuses on useful communication
variety, effective nonâ€verbal skills, and using
interpersonal responsiveness that respectfully
recognizes underlying messages. Come learn to use communication skills that will support children across their lifetimes,
improving behavior and quality of life.
