Rumors were flying Friday about a news story reporting deep cuts to the Division of Developmental Disabilities in a new Senate Budget Proposal. I thought it would be appropriate to talk to Senate Appropriations Staff about that rumor. The opposite is true according to my sources. The Senate Proposal reflects the Governor’s Proposed Budget for the Division of Developmental Disabilities with one change. That change being the the Senate is proposing a supplemental budget appropriation to pay off bills owed to developmental disability providers this year instead of the next fiscal which was proposed in the Governor’s Proposed Budget. This is great news.We are uncertain about what the House Budget proposal will include at this time but the Senate plan is a solid one.

With the end of the Legislation Session scheduled for May 31st, one thing is certain many issues remain unresolved at this time including a final state budget. Stay tuned!
