Monday night, we became aware of Governor Quinn signing an Executive Order
regarding the PAYMENT OF MINIMUM WAGE BY STATE CONTRACTORS AND
SUBCONTRACTORS. The Executive Order calls for a $10.00 per hour minimum
wage. The Care Campaign is looking into the implications of this Executive Order
for community providers. I have also asked Director Casey for guidance on this.
Monday, The Arc of Illinois Board of Directors met to discuss the elections and
board business. The next board meeting is scheduled for March 9th, 10:30.
Today, the Going Home Campaign meets to plan our Annual Day in the Capitol
which is scheduled for Wednesday, March 25th in the State Capitol. With a new
administration and many new legislators it is imperative that we have a great
turnout of advocates supporting inclusive community services, living wages for
staff and ending the waiting list. Make you plans now to attend.
Friday I head to Chicago for a reception for Secretary Michelle Saddler.
