The Arc is deeply concerned over the major cuts to health care for people with disabilities and the poor who rely upon Medicaid for their most basic needs. The Home Services Program and the Medically Fragile Technology Dependent Waiver have been drastically changed.The Senate budget that passed did not cut community services or rates for developmental disability services. The House has yet to approve a budget and may be the final budget for the session. We are fearful House members may get cold feet about closing state institutions. We will keep our eyes on this and be ready to respond to Action Alerts over the holiday weekend. It looks like legislators may remain in session over the weekend rather than breaking for the holiday.
I have a meeting with the Governor’s office shortly to get the lay of the land down in the Capitol.
