Governor Rauner’s first “State of the State Address” did not have any reference to
people with disabilities. He did say he would support an increase in the minimum
wage over the next seven years. He also stated that we need to increase funding
for education and early childhood education. The Governor continues to stay away
from specific details for his legislative priorities.

The Senate Executive Committee just passed a minimum wage bill out to the
Senate. Senate Bill 11 would increase the minimum wage to $9.00 per hour July
1st to $11.00 by 2019.
