I am pleased to report to you that the Value the Work Wage Bill House Bill 5931 passed the Senate today by a vote of 40 yes – 18 no. See how your Senator voted.
About two weeks ago, the House of Representatives passed HB 5931. See how your Representative voted.
The bill now goes to the Governor for his consideration. The Governor has 60 days to sign the bill, veto it outright, or offer an amendatory veto. If the Governor takes no action during those 60 days, the bill becomes law
Congratulations to all of you who worked on this important legislation which raises the starting wage for Direct Support Professionals to $15.00!
We’re not done yet and have more work to do but take a moment to enjoy your advocacy and the support we have had with members of the Illinois House and Senate.
The Value the Work Coalition will now consider working with the Governor and his administration to sign the bill into law.
