The Arc of Illinois is in the beginning planning stages for the 2014 Annual Convention to be
held on April 23-24, 2014, at the Hilton Hotel in Lisle, IL. We are looking for individuals or
panels of individuals interested in sharing their experiences, expertise and goals in their
important work in the field of intellectual and developmental disabilities.
The Arc of Illinois is committed to empowering persons with disabilities to reach their highest
potential in education, employment and community living.
This year’s theme, “Rebalancing! Creating Opportunities from Challenges”, will provide
attendees with the latest information on many issues from birth and early intervention to
transition from high school, employment and improving the quality of life in the community.
We will focus on the individual’s dreams, their empowerment and helping each person achieve
those dreams.
In the field of Human Services, we have the opportunity to create opportunities and empower
so many people, with supports, to live a full life and achieve great things!
This convention will be inspirational as well as very informative with the latest
information on many topics relevant to a person’s life. Please submit a proposal
to be a part of this exciting event!
Participants will be a mixture of self-advocates, families, direct care staff, educators,
managers and other professionals in the field of intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Therefore, proposals on any topic of interest to any of the groups represented are welcome, particularly a new approach or idea.
