I am pleased to report to you that as of yesterday, there is no one living at the Jacksonville Developmental Center. This is the first voluntary and person-centered closing of a state institution in Illinois to my knowledge. My hat goes off to Governor Quinn and the team he put together that is now creating a better life for the people who have transitioned to the community. Most of those individuals are living in four person or less community settings of their choice.Preparations for the closure of the Murray Developmental Center will begin shortly.
