Phil Milsk, our Governmental Affair Consultant, met with House Republican Leader Tom Cross and his Chief of Staff Scott Reimers. We wanted to update the Leader on rebalancing, payment delays to providers and Medicaid expansion. We also have concerns about cuts to the Governor’s proposed budget. It was an excellent and productive meeting.

Tony & Director Romano

Director Sheila Romano, Ph.D. has been invited to an important and unique event, “Building a More Inclusive Workforce: A National Summit to Boost Education and Employment Outcomes for Americans with Disabilities!” She is one of 75 leaders from government, philanthropy, business and advocates to raise the profile of this issue in the philanthropy and business sectors. She was invited by Jack Markell, Governor of Delaware and Chair of the National Governor’s Association. Governor Markell has chosen the issue of employment for individuals with disabilities as his leadership focus as the Chair of the National Governor’s Association. Sheila will also be joining Senator Tom Harkin and Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers at the Summit. They hope to increase the size of the disability labor force from 4.9 million to over 6 million by 2015, and this Summit is part of that strategy.
Congratulations Sheila for your leadership! This is truly a great honor for you and Illinois.
