Today, I am heading to the Capitol for what could be my last trip as your Executive Director and it will be a big week in Springfield. The Senate is expected to run a major package of spending and revenue bills in an attempt to craft a state budget. We do not know if the package will be supported in the House. On Wednesday, Governor Rauner will give the State of the State Address. The Budget Address is scheduled for February 15th.
On Tuesday, the House of Representatives will recognize my advocacy efforts on your behalf. What an honor.
Last Friday, Meg was able to meet Secretary Dimas and Special Council to the Governor Greg Bassi. The main topic was Medicaid block grants. It was a very productive meeting and Meg is very well versed on Medicaid.
On Friday, we have a meeting with Director Fenton. It will be an opportunity for Meg to meet the Director and discuss a variety of important issues.
Next Monday, Meg Cooch becomes the new Executive Director of The Arc of Illinois! I will then assume the role of special advisor to the Executive Director until February 14th.
