Today, the Executive Forum meets via webinar. Our agenda includes a presentation by
The Arc’s Director of Policy in Washington D.C., Marty Ford. Marty will bring us up to date
on important disability issues including sequestration, implementation of the Affordable
Care Act and threats to Medicaid funding of disability services.
We will be then joined by Mark Doyle who will bring us up to date on closing the Murray
Developmental Center and the Governor’s Rebalancing Initiative.
Greg Fenton of the Division of Developmental Disabilities will share with us new initiatives
to enhance case management activities in the DD system and begin the process for
obtaining input as we move forward with these plans. The intention is to strengthen self-
advocate and family input into decisions that impact their lives.
I will comment on the 1115 Medicaid Transformation Waiver and give a preview of our
upcoming Leadership Conference at the Lisle Hilton, February 6-7, 2014. Topics of interest
include Managed Care, the 1115 Transformation Waiver, Ligas Implementation and much
more.
Thursday, the Care Campaign meets to gear up for the new legislative session and our
efforts to increase wages for direct support professionals. With the passage of pension
reforms, it will be interesting to see, what if any, impact it will have on human services in
Illinois.
