On July 1, The Arc will welcome Amie Lulinski, PhD, to our national policy team.
Amie recently served as Senior Research Specialist in Developmental
Disabilities at the Institute on Disability and Human Development at the
University of Illinois at Chicago which is the University Center for Excellence in
Developmental Disabilities for the State of Illinois. She received her MS in
Disability and Human Development from the University of Illinois at Chicago her
PhD in Disability Studies. Amie’s interests are in Medicaid funded long term
services and supports as well as the mental/behavioral health needs of people
with I/DD. Amie is a long-time member of The Arc family, serving as Secretary
of the Board of The Arc of Illinois and Chair of its Managed Care Task Force. In
2011, Amie served as the Disability Policy Leadership Fellow at the Association

Reauthorization Act and opposing the block granting of Medicaid.
It is estimated that 1 in 68 children has an autism spectrum disorder (ASD).
Research shows that Hispanic children are often diagnosed later than the
national average. With prevalence rates on the rise, it is important that families
of underserved communities have access to quality information and resources.
The Autism NOW Center and the Autism Society of America have partnered to
offer this free resource to Spanish-speaking families, offered entirely in Spanish,
to learn more about autism spectrum disorders. Presenters will provide an
overview of ASD; discuss steps involved in screening and diagnosis; address
existing barriers for Latino families; and help connect families to resources in
their community. Reserve your seat now.
