It is good to be back after a wonderful holiday break. I wish you a very Happy New Year!  It is going to be a busy week for The Arc. Tomorrow, our Executive Forum meets via video conference. James Parker, Deputy Administrator, Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services, will give us an update on the Integrated Care Pilot which will soon go statewide.  In Phase Three, all developmental disability services will fall under a managed care program. Another speaker will be Ralph Martire, Executive Director, Center for Tax and Budget Accountability is an expert on Illinois finances.  Ralph’s presentation will focus on the state’s continued fiscal crisis and its impact on human service providers. On Thursday, I will meet with the new Director of The Autism Program, Bronwyn Rains and on Friday, Mark Doyle, Office of the Governor, Transition of Care Project Director.

Here is a great story on our friend Karen Meyer:

Remarkable Woman: Karen Meyer

Covering disability issues for WLS-TV is second nature to this journalist, who has been profoundly deaf since birth.
