Heading to Chicago today to meet with advocates on leadership development.
Meeting with Secretary Dimas. Last Friday The Arc, the Going Home Coalition and representatives of the Alliance met with Dept. of Human Services Secretary James Dimas, Director Fenton and Arc President Terri Devine. It was a very productive and successful meeting. We look forward to future meetings with the Secretary on the importance of community services/supports!

Managed Care. Shirley Perez and I met with representatives of Health Care & Family Services to discuss managed care of the developmental disability system on Friday. The representative stated that there are no plans to move forward with Integrated Care Phase III. Phase III has not even been discussed. The representative did indicate that if Phase III is ever resurrected, The Arc would be at the table!
DSP Wages. The Arc is working in coalition and drafting a joint statement on DSP wages in light of the Court Monitor’s Fourth Annual Report. I will share it with you once it is finalized.
Jennifer Harrison. Jennifer Harrison I am extremely sad to report to you the passing of Jennifer Harrison, who worked with the Illinois Council on Developmental Disabilities. It was an honor and a pleasure to know and work with Jen. I have so many fond memories, but I think my favorite was mentoring her in her new legislative position for the Council and her first trip to D.C. We have lost an exceptional advocate.
