Today, The Arc of Illinois Board of Directors meeting to discuss several important matters. The Board will review three positions statements to be considered at the Annual Meeting of The Arc of the United States. Sherri Schneider and Dorelia Rivera will be appointed by President Devine as Officers of the Board. Sherri will serve as Vice President moving from Secretary and Dorelia will serve as Secretary. The Public Policy Committee will discuss possible new legislative initiatives. The Executive Search Committee will report on its progress of selecting a new Executive Director. Resumes has been screened and candidates are being scheduled for interviews. It is the objective of the board to hire a new Executive Director by the first of the New Year. The committee’s work is right on schedule.
Wednesday, the Executive Forum meets with Director Fenton. Director Fenton give us an update on the “Progress Being Made on Compliance with New CMS Rules” and “ The Status of Crisis Intervention System.” In addition, the Director will then field questions from the Executive Forum including but not limited to the Governor’s veto of the DSP wage legislation; prompt payments for community services; DDD’s role in subminimum wages; Employment First and more.
On Thursday, the State Associations and the Steering Committee of the Value the Work Coalition will meet to discuss next steps in our campaign to address the crisis of retaining and recruitment of Direct Service Professionals.
