SUMMARY:Online Sibshops for Illinois children and teens
DESCRIPTION:  \nOnline Sibshops for Illinois children and teens \nZoom Sibshops are for children and teens who have a sibling with disabilities. Sibshops are a fun\, sib-focused time to connect and relax with other siblings who get what being a sib is all about!\nFor the adults who run them and for the agencies that sponsor them\, Sibshops are evidence of their loving concern for the family member who will have the longest-lasting relationship with a person who has a disability. However\, for the children and teens who attend them\, Sibshops are fun events where they will meet other sibs (usually for the first time)\, have fun\, laugh\, talk about the challenges AND joys of having a sib with disabilities\, play some great games\, learn something about the services their brothers and sisters receive.  \n  \nEspecially during this time when many families are spending more time at home\, siblings are experiencing all kinds of feelings. Meeting other sibs\, talking\, and playing games with one another can help your child feel less alone and more prepared to handle different experiences and situations that arise.  \n  \nSiblings who have attended previous Sibshops are welcome to attend this Sibshop as well! There is no cost to attend the Sibshop! \nSibshops: \nTuesday\, August 4\, 3-4:30pm CT (ages 8-12)\nhttps://www.sibsnetwork.org/event/sibshop-ages-8-12-aug-04-20/ \n After registration\, a Zoom link will be emailed.  \n If you have questions\, please contact Tara Conley at info@sibsnetwork.org. \n  \nThese Sibshops are hosted by the Sibling Leadership Network in partnership with Supporting Illinois Brothers and Sisters with an investment of the Illinois Council on Developmental Disabilities. This project is supported in part by grant number CFDA 93.630 from the U.S. Administration for Community Living\, Department of Health and Human Services\, Washington D.C. 20201. Grantees undertaking projects with government sponsorship are encouraged to express freely their findings and conclusions. Points of view or opinions do not\, therefore necessarily represent official ACL policy. \n
