DESCRIPTION:Sibshop Facilitator Training for Illinois Residents Presented by The Sibling Support Project \nJoin us to learn about the unique concerns and opportunities of siblings of individuals with disabilities\, and how to support them through Sibshops! \nSibshops are fun\, supportive events for siblings\, the family members who share the longest-lasting relationship with a person who has a disability. Sibshops provide children with opportunities to obtain peer support and make connections\, while sharing the delights and challenges faced by having a sibling with disabilities. \nSibshop Facilitators are often professionals and parents\, educators\, service providers\, adult siblings…and anyone who would like to support the lives of sibs.  Participants attending the training will learn about how to lead a Sibshop\, and experience one firsthand! \nZoom Sibshop Facilitator Certification Training\nYou are required to attend ALL 4 90-minute Sessions in order to become a Certified Sibshop Facilitator \nTuesday\, August 18- Friday August 21 at 2pm-3:30pm CT \nOr Tuesday\, August 18 – Friday August 21 at 6:30pm-8pm CT \nRegistration for Sibshop Certification training is FREE. 6 hours of CEU’s\, provided by University of Illinois Chicago: $10 \nCEU’s provided by the Institute on Disability and Human Development for the following license types: Nurses\, Clinical Psychologists\, Illinois Teachers Professional Development (PD)\, LCSW/LSW\, RD\, NHA\, OT\, PT\, QIDP\, and SLP. \nClick HERE to register for Aug 18-21\, 2pm-3:30 pm Training \nClick HERE to register for Aug 18-21\, 6:30-8:00 pm Training \nIf you have any questions\, please contact amy.halm@siblingleadership.org

Robin will share examples of people who are using technology to conquer not only the barriers the world presents but those monstrous barriers of perception. Their stories will serve as an inspiration as you ask yourself “But what if they can?”.  \nSpeaker Bio:   \nRobin Pegg is a RESNA certified Assistive Technology Professional who has dedicated her 20+ year career to promoting the full and equal access of individuals with disabilities. She is an Assistant Professor & Academic Fieldwork Coordinator at Grand Rapids Community College as well as an Educational Consultant for the Williams Syndrome Association.   \nRobin prides herself on staying on the cutting edge of available tools\, strategies and supporting research in the fields of assistive technology\, differentiating instruction and Universal Design for Learning. Her unique perspective is due to her background in occupational therapy and her specialization in assistive technology and curriculum differentiation. \nRobin holds Bachelor Degree in Administration from Baker College and graduated summa cum laude from Bowling Green State University with a Masters in Special Education – Assistive Technology.
