You will not want to miss this! \nWorkshop for Siblings of People with Disabilities:\nWednesday\, October 28\, 2020 7:30 pm – 8:30 pm \nRSVP\nhttps://bit.ly/2SDBAhz \nAbout our Speakers: \nKatie Arnold\, Executive Director\nSibling Leadership Network\nKatie Arnold is the Executive Director of the Sibling Leadership Network (SLN)\, a national nonprofit with state chapters is dedicated to providing siblings of individuals with disabilities the information\, support and tools to advocate with their brothers and sisters and to promote the issues important to them and their entire families. Their work is creating a passionate and informed community of advocates. Also\, Katie works as the Director of Community Education in the Institute on Disability and Human Development at UIC. Her work is anchored to her experience growing up with her sister with intellectual disabilities. \nShirley Valladares\, Supporting Illinois Brothers and Sisters\nShirley Valladares is a special education teacher for students with low incidence disabilities in Chicago Public Schools. Her personal experiences and relationship with her younger sister with Down syndrome led to her studying and graduating from the UIUC with a bachelor’s in Special Education and her master’s degree in Special Education at the University of Illinois at Chicago. She is part of the Supporting Illinois Brothers & Sisters (S.I.B.S) leadership team\, an Illinois chapter of the Sibling Leadership Network (SLN). She is the oldest of three siblings. Her experiences have led her to advocate for people with disabilities and their families.\nThis presentation was developed by the Sibling Leadership Network in partnership with Supporting Illinois Brothers and Sisters with an investment of the Illinois Council on Developmental Disabilities. This project is supported in part by grant number CFDA 93.630 from the U.S. Administration for Community Living\, Department of Health and Human Services\, Washington\, D.C. 20201.
