SUMMARY:ILS Lunchtime Webinar - Virtual Support Groups
DESCRIPTION:Individuals and families use social media in a variety of ways to connect.  Three disability groups: Latinas United in Love for Autism (LULA)\, Illinois Parents of Adults with Developmental Disabilities Unite (IPADD Unite)\, and DSCC/MFTD Waiver Families will discuss how they share information and support one another via social media. \nPresenters:\nLiza Curiel from LULA\nLiza is the founder and president of Unique Sweets\, created the nonprofit to provide opportunities for individuals living with Autism and other Developmental Disabilities to develop job skills\, socialize and expand their skills across family\, community\, and the professional world.  She is the President and Founder of Latinas United in Love for Autism (LULA). LULA is a peer support group for women. Members are women from varied backgrounds whose commonality is caring for individuals with Autism. \nEllen Marie Herbert from IPADDUNITE\nEllen Marie Herber is an English teacher by profession and enjoys gardening and volunteering with cat rescue groups. She lives with her adult sister who has multiple severe and profound disabilities.  She joined the IPADDUNITE Facebook page in 2017.  In 2021\, she was appointed as a co-administrator of the group and serves on the advisory board \nSusan Agrawal from DSCC/MFTD Waiver Families\nSusan Agrawal is a parent\, writer\, editor\, and advocate. After her experiences with her daughter Karuna\, who had multiple complex medical conditions\, she began to focus primarily on disability-related issues.  In 2011 she founded Medically Fragile\, Technology Dependent (MFTD) Waiver Families to help support and advocate for Illinois families in the MFTD Waiver.
