Miss Escobedo holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from the College of Education at University of Illinois at Chicago. She is a LEND Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and related Disabilities (LEND) graduate. She has worked for 9 nine years as an elementary school teacher. DESCRIPTION:Juan Aponte from Community Alternatives Unlimited (CAU) \nJUAN APONTE\, M.S.\, QIDP – Juan is a Director of Services with Community Alternatives Unlimited\, an Independent Service Coordination (ISC) agency providing case management services to families of individuals with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities in Lake County\, Northwest Cook County and Northside of Chicago\, IL. During his 30 year tenure at CAU\, Juan has worked very closely and diligently with many service providers and families of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Juan has also received extensive training in autism in the states of Indiana and Illinois. Juan continues to work closely with the Illinois Department of Human Services – Division of Developmental Disabilities (IDHS-DDD)\, Illinois Department of Rehabilitation Services (DRS) and several local school districts\, residential and vocational providers in the Chicago/Metro area for the purpose of advocating and securing necessary supports and services for families and individuals with special needs. His areas of expertise include advocacy\, crisis case management and transition planning for families and individuals with autism and behavioral challenges transitioning from special education and out of state placements into community based services.
