SUMMARY:ILS Lunchtime Webinar –   Discover the Resources and Activities of the Institute on Disability and Human Development at UIC
DESCRIPTION:The Institute on Disability and Human Development\, University of Illinois Chicago has an array of academic\, clinical\, research and technical assistance programs all focused on reducing barriers for people with disabilities. Participants will learn about the following programs and resources and how to access them:\n• Undergraduate\, graduate and certificate academic programs\, including the new Co-Op Career Experience for Students with Intellectual Disabilities\, the new Disability Legal Studies certificates\, and the LEND (Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities) program\n• The Assistive Technology Unit and the Family Clinic\, including the new Cognitive\, Behavior and Mindfulness Clinic\n• The research programs related to health\, aging\, community inclusion\, employment\, and disability arts and culture\n• Technical assistance and community service through the Great Lakes ADA Center\, the peer support groups (Coalition for Autistic and Neurodiverse Students\, Chicagoland Disabled People of Color Coalition\, Grupo Salto\, and Sibling Leadership Network)\, and through webinar series \nOur Presenter: Dr. Tamar Heller\, PhD\, Distinguished Professor\, is Head of the Department of Disability and Human Development\, University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) and director of its University Center of Excellence in Developmental Disabilities for the State of Illinois. She has also directed the Rehabilitation Research and Training Center (RRTC) on Developmental Disabilities and Health and the Family Support RRTC. She has active projects on family support and health promotion interventions for individuals with disabilities.
