Currently\, she is an Assistive Technology Lead for Collaborations and Trainings at UCP Seguin- Infinitec where she collaborates with IEP teams to provide augmentative and alternative communication support through student assessment and communication partner training and coaching. SUMMARY:STEP Programs for Youth in Transition
DESCRIPTION:The Division of Rehabilitation Services offers services to students in high school through the Secondary Transitional Experience Program (STEP). STEP is a work experience program that helps students with disabilities prepare to transition to employment and community participation. This webinar will provide a general overview of STEP Programs\, discuss which students are eligible\, explain what types of experiences are provided\, and note how those services can differ from school to school. \n\nRegister HERE \n\n\n\n\nOur Presenter: Kristin Wagner worked in the private sector prior to joining the State of Illinois. She worked in substance abuse\, child welfare\, community mental health\, private practice\, and education. In 2007\, she joined the State of Illinois\, DHS\, Division of Rehabilitation Services (DRS) as a Rehabilitation Counselor where she remained for 8 1/2 years before becoming the Manager of Community Resources. She has been in this position from 2016 to present. During this employment\, she has provided direct service to individuals with disabilities. She also manages Vocational Rehabilitation contracts with Community Providers as well as monitoring staff that provide oversight to the Providers. Kristin has a Master’s degree from University of Illinois-Springfield and holds her Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor licensure since 2002.
