SUMMARY:Moving All Preschool Children Forward by Understanding and Supporting Their Current Needs and Abilities
DESCRIPTION:The early years are a crucial time for children’s language\, literacy\, social/emotional development and more. Research is showing that students lost about a third of what would have been learned as a result of the pandemic. For children with disabilities\, their challenges were multiplied. How can we make sure we tighten the gap so that ALL preschool children are on the right path to being successful and competent learners in both school and life? SUMMARY:ILS & F2F Webinar Series: Envision Illinois: Uniting Disability and Domestic Violence Services to Achieve Safety\, Justice and Healing
DESCRIPTION:Domestic Violence takes place within relationships\, yet it often goes unrecognized and hidden from view. Envision Illinois is a collaborative project that brings together self-advocates\, domestic violence and disability organizations across Illinois to transform services for people with disabilities and Deaf people who have experienced domestic violence in ways that support safety\, justice and healing. Participants will learn what domestic violence is; prevalence of domestic violence and people with disabilities; how to respond to a disclosure of domestic violence; why collaboration is key to supporting victims with disabilities; and the Envision Illinois Resource Corner.  Join us and learn how you can be part of the solution! \nPresenters:\nMs. Krescene Beck has a lifetime of experience supporting people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.  As a licensed Nursing Home Administrator and former Executive Vice President of a large disability service agency\, Krescene has spent the past 16+ years working on statewide grants focused on self-advocacy and on building collaborations to better respond to people with disabilities who experience violence. She is part of the Illinois Self-Advocacy Alliance (The Alliance) as well as a Co-Director with Blue Tower Solutions\, Inc. \nMary Hartell\nMary has had the privilege of working on the Envisions Illinois state team ever the project was founded in 2013. Over the past ten years\, she has learned how domestic violence affects people with disabilities and Deaf people. One of the most valuable facts that she has learned is that collaboration is key to helping victims with disabilities heal\, seek justice\, and return to their life as they once knew it to be. She has contributed documents and given\npresentations on this topic. Most of which can be found on the Envisions Illinois Resource corner. \nRegister in advance for this webinar at https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_XTBf5dl4T5aWMCzTKoIlRw \nAfter registering\, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the webinar.

SUMMARY:STAR NET: A Family Guide to Executive Functioning at Home to support Early Childhood (Webinar)
DESCRIPTION:Executive Functioning (EF) has become a popular term mentioned among educators. EF refers to the process in which we initiate a task\, organize and plan how to accomplish the task\, and lastly persevere and stay focused despite distractions until we complete the task. Although we typically think of executive functioning skills for middle and high school students\, research shows the importance of explicitly teaching executive functioning skills to early childhood-aged children to foster independence\, responsibility\, and self-regulation. \nPresented by Dr. Chrisna Perry\, Comprehensive Learning Services \nRegister Here: \nhttps://web.cvent.com/event/9a1cffa0-a83b-4a60-9a76-efdf367fa760/summary
