SUMMARY:Restrained and Secluded: How a Change in Perspective for Students With Disabilities and Simple Science Can Change Everything
DESCRIPTION:Students with disabilities—in addition to Black and brown children and children with a trauma history—are more likely to be restrained\, secluded\, suspended\, expelled\, and subjected to corporal punishment. Their behaviors are often misunderstood\, and outdated behavioral management approaches are simply not working. \nBeing the parent or caregiver of a misunderstood child can be difficult. They are often blamed and shamed\, but there is hope. \nIn this webinar\, we will discuss how a bit of neuroscience and a new lens on behavior can reduce and eliminate punitive practices and lead to endless potential. \nAccess Note: This webinar will be captioned. The recording will be available to view on demand for those who register. \nIf you have any questions\, please email school@thearc.org.
