Lori is a certified PEER provider for the School Aged and Young Adult Curriculums. \nLori has both professional and personal expertise in understanding and working with families of children with special needs.  Lori’s primary role is to synchronize the clinical services\, trainings and community outreach\, and coach parents of children diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder (ASD) on a wide range of topics including coordinating relationships with providers.  She is also responsible for managing the budget of the program.  In addition to her primary responsibility in supporting The Autism Program at Easterseals\, Lori  has volunteered to review  grants for Autism Speaks. \nLori started the community outreach for bully prevention in partnership with the Rockford IceHogs (affiliate team to the Chicago Blackhawks) in 2015.  The partnership and outreach began when a large number of individuals with autism spectrum disorder who bravely shared their experiences with bullying.   The research\, outreach\, and prevention is a daily passion and the focus is always to put an end to bullying. \n

SUMMARY:The Impact of the Pandemic on Direct Support Professionals
DESCRIPTION:Register at https://adobe.ly/37jRODM \nThis training will explore the Direct Support Professional’s (DSP) experiences during the COVID-19 pandemic. Through information gathered through the National Core Indicators (NCI) Staff Stability Survey\, the presentation will highlight current research on the DSP workforce gathered before and during the pandemic. Information will be presented regarding the DSP workforce nationally and its growth and importance to those needing long-term services and supports. Results from two national surveys conducted with DSPs during the pandemic will be shared reflecting the impacts the pandemic has had on individual DSPs. Finally\, the training will share the personal stories of six DSPs as they navigated the pandemic. \nFollowing the presentation\, webinar participants will have the opportunity to take part in a question and answer session receiving feedback from CMS and the presenters. \nThis training is hosted by CMS’ Centers for Medicaid and CHIP Services\, Division of Long Term Services and Supports.

Phil also has experience working as a Governmental Relations Consultant by which he provided representation of several associations with a focus on rights of persons with disabilities\, education\, and healthcare access. \nThose organizations include: \n\nSpecial Education Legal Consultant for Breaking Autism\, Inc.\nPolicy Advisor to Illinois Assistive Technology Program\nThe Arc of Illinois\nIllinois Council on Developmental Disabilities\n\nFrom 2013-2018\, Phil Milsk served as a Special Education Due Process Hearing Officer for the Illinois State Board of Education. From 1990 to 1995\, he worked as the Director of Legal Services State Support Center of Illinois located in Springfield\, IL. Phil was also the Directing Attorney for the Land of Lincoln Legal Assistance Foundation. \nCurrently\, Phil is an active member on the Illinois State Bar Association\, Standing Committee on Disability Law\, Newsletter Editor of Education Law Section Council Delivery of Legal Services and  the State Employment and Economic Opportunities for Persons with Disabilities Task Force. \n Phil attended J.D. DePaul University College of Law and received his B.A. from the University of Illinois-Chicago.
