The Dept of Human Services budget was approved by the Illinois House of Representatives tonight by a vote of 69 to 47. This budget bill will now move on to the Senate where it will probably be heard in committee sometime tomorrow. For details on the budget see my memo sent earlier today.I expect swift approval in the Senate because the House and Senate worked together to develop this DHS budget. More to come later.
Remember, the last few weeks, legislators had been talking about cutting an additional $750 million out of the DHS budget so this is quite a turn around for us.
