It saddens me greatly to inform you of the passing of Mike Mayer.
To say that Mike was a great advocate for people is certainly an understatement. His valiant efforts to support people in the community are legendary. His work at Jacksonville and Murray was incredibly effective. What a great loss to our field and to the many of us who could call him friend.
Mike was last at The Arc’s QIDP Leadership Conference in January. I asked him to have lunch so we could update each other on what was happening in our lives. Little did I know that that would be the last time I broke bread with Mike. As always, we laughed and had a grand time.
Rest in peace good friend. May the Lord be with you.
