What Families Need to Know- August 2015 Update
Frequently Asked Questions
My child has been enrolled in the Children’s Support Waiver for six years, and I
just received a Medicaid Redetermination form for the first time. What does this mean
and why didn’t I get one before?
The Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services (HFS), our state’s Medicaid
agency, requires annual redetermination (redes) for everyone who is enrolled in Medicaid.
This applies to everyone, including families who have children enrolled in the Department
of Human Services, Division of Developmental Disabilities (DHS/DDD) waiver programs:
Children’s Support Waiver (CSW) (also referred to as “Home-Based”)
Children’s Residential Waiver (CRW)
In the past, due to administrative backlogs, not everyone received a yearly Medicaid
Redetermination request.
