First, a quick note about the wage implementation. The They Deserve More Coalition heard this week that DHS is still working on the emergency rule needed to go along with the wage increase and that we should hear something “soon” about implementation. We are hearing that it will be an August 1 implementation start which is technically within the bounds of the budget implementation bill, but obviously not preferred. Again, nothing is in writing yet. We are hearing that award letters would need to be redone and sent back to providers, which could take up to 60 days so there might need to be a catch up payment. Although we have heard positive things about the proposed implemenation, we still have not written confirmation about the details of what they are proposing.

Kit O’Brien Cota and Andrea Medley from the Division on Developmental Disabilities will be there to give a three month update on the person center planning change and we can discuss what ISCs and providers are seeing on the ground. We will also talk about budget implementation, federal issues and other important issues of the day.
Assistant Comptroller Kevin Schoeben is tentatively scheduled to join by webinar as well to talk about how the state will pay new bills while trying to address the back bills owed to many.
