MEDICAID UPDATE
Thanks to all those who were able to join us on the Medicaid and Issues with Sherri Schneider webinar today. We apologize again for not being able to accommodate everyone who registered.
HOT OFF THE PRESS -Sherri shared on the webinar:
1) Effective 3/30/18 – If the computer system that used to automatically cancel any case that was deemed to have missing information, will NO LONGER cancel the case. Instead, a case worker will now be required to review the system to confirm that in fact the application/case is not complete. Previously the system was automatically canceling cases even though the forms were complete. This will hopefully mean less automatic denials.
2) Effective 3/30/18 – A reopened case will automatically be back dated three months. Previously you had to ask for the 3 month retroactive action. This will hopefully mean less gaps in coverage while HFS works out these issues.
The Arc of Illinois continues to meet with HFS to problem solve the larger systems issues. We are still very concerned that there continues to be denials and we can’t get case workers on the phone. More to come!
