The Senate continues to negotiate a grand bargain and we have heard they are proposing a $.50 increase in wages.  That doesn’t come close to the $15 that is in SB955 and what is needed to address the workforce crisis and ensure people have access to the workers and the services they need in the community.  Chicago raises its minimum wage to $15 in July!

Here is what we need you to do:

1) Fill out this witness slip which supports SB955 to register you support.  We are not sure if it will be called on Thursday since they want to include it in the budget discussion.  However, it is important to register our support.  In the slip, click “proponent” and “record of appearance”.

2) Call your legislators – We know you have already but we have one more week to go for them to pass a budget and/or SB955.  Even if you have called once, please call again.  They need to hear from us.

“I am calling to urge Representative/Senator [last name of Rep] to support SB 955. People with disabilities in Illinois deserve more…they need caregivers who earn a living wage.”

3) Email and post to your friends and social network and ask them to do the same thing #TheyDeserveMore
