FREE Early Intervention Legal Clinic in Joliet

July 14 @ 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Joliet Public Library – Ottawa Street Branch (Room 201)

 Monday, July 14, 2025

 5:00–8:00 PM

To support families experiencing delays in Early Intervention (EI) services, Equip for Equality is hosting an in-person legal clinic to help families understand their rights and options. Families may be eligible for help if they’ve been waiting more than 30 days for services or are having trouble getting return calls from their service coordinators.

Event Details:

Joliet Public Library – Ottawa Street Branch (Room 201)

 Monday, July 14, 2025

 5:00–8:00 PM

Legal support will be available in both English and Spanish

 Free of charge

Families will meet one-on-one with legal advocates to talk through their situation and receive guidance. Help may include:

  • Restarting searches to connect with providers
  • Securing compensatory (make-up) services
  • Reimbursement for services paid out-of-pocket
  • New evaluations if additional services are needed
  • (Please note that outcomes vary and are not guaranteed in every case.)

Families are encouraged to pre-register using the link in the flyer (also available here) to help Equip for Equality plan staffing and ensure everyone gets timely support. There is a cap on the number of in-person consultations, but all registrants will be contacted even if the event reaches capacity.

This clinic is open to any Illinois family facing EI service delays — not just those living in Joliet. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out directly to Peter Eatherton at petere@equipforequality.org.
