Featured Speaker: Safiyyah Hassan, MBA, CCMA, Program Director of Public Benefits Policy, Training & Technical Assistance with the DuPage Federation on Human Services Reform
Safiyyah is a public health professional who has worked with various vulnerable populations in the city of Chicago. She trained in the departments of Rehabilitation and Human Services at local IDHS offices before entering the non-profit world. Some of her most compelling experiences include the Street Medicine work she did through The Night Ministry’s mobile units. Their focus was the homeless population and people with Substance Use Disorder. She later trained in Medical Case Management and provided support for people living with HIV and continued utilizing harm reduction practices.
Safiyyah has trained community health workers and case managers throughout Cook, Dupage, and Kane county. Trainings were provided on the following topics: public benefit (eligibility and application completion for various programs including CCAP and Better Birth Outcomes) and immigration (immigration forms including citizenship, deportation appeals, and public charge). She is now the Program Director of Public Benefit Policy, Training, and Technical Assistance at DuPage Federation on Human Services Reform.
