Our lives present situations and events that can cause stress. This is even more pronounced during a pandemic that seems to never end! However, we can learn and use strategies to help ourselves remain calm and in a more positive mood even when stressful events occur. Improving family communication helps prevent and/or reduce over-reactions such as melt-downs or angry outbursts. Using these communication strategies provides a MODEL for the children and adults around us and we all learn together. This improves life for everyone in the household!
Participants will learn how to:
-Use simple printed words to improve family communication and social interactions -Get one’s needs met by using simple statements such as, “I feel…” and “I need…” -Identify your internal state and improve self-regulation
-Provide help to others in a way that teaches them lifelong, needed skills
