This year, advance payments of the 2021 Child Tax Credit (CTC) are sent monthly from July through December to eligible taxpayers. However, to receive the payments, families must file a 2020 tax return.
The IRS will host AdvCTC Free Tax Prep Days, CTC outreach events in select cities across the country. IRS Taxpayer Assistance Centers (TAC) and key community stakeholders and volunteers will help eligible families prepare and file tax returns on July 23 and 24.
